I’m not as crabby today as I was yesterday. Had a pretty fun time with Marie on our mini-date. Went to Appleton after getting home from work and changing. Had dinner at Paretti’s, a ‘Chicago’ style eatery and pub. I like the word eatery. Anywho, I got a garlic chicken calzone while Marie got the vegetarian lasagna. She spells it lasagne, but anyway.

The calzone was literally the size of my head. It came with a polite side dish of alfredo sauce for dipping. I was in tastebud (no, not the Grimace variety) heaven. Wow, it was so good. Marie enjoyed her lasagna as well. We asked to wrap up the leftovers (since we each got about half way through our entrees) and paid the bill. Headed then to Barnes and Noble to finish up our shopping. I got all of my shopping done now, which is a damn good feeling.

As I was checking out, I noticed a sign up (on the back wall behind the registers) that stated “We have reduced our store lighting to do our part in saving energy” or some such corporate crapanando. I looked around the store after reading the sign and realized I was in one of the most well-lit stores of my life. There were fluorescent lights everywhere. I was going to ask the cashier about it, but the line was really long and the guy was rather gruff to me, so I decided not to be a rabble-rouser.

Got back to the car and remarked to Marie how nice it was that the car didn’t smell like leftovers. She responded with “Where did you put them?” This prompted me to reply “I thought you grabbed them” with the realization that we forgot them at the restaurant slowly sinking in. Contrary to the me of a few years ago, I’m really glad this happened. While I’m disappointed I don’t get to enjoy my leftovers today, it serves as a reminder that no matter how cool I *think* I am, I’m not. I have a feeling our waitress, Veronica, must have had a good chuckle on us when she saw that.

If it wasn’t for the sour, the sweet wouldn’t be as sweet.

Got home and played some Fallout 2 until I realized it’s not really that fun of a game. I think I’m in the mood for a new game and might settle on The Sims after the holiday season is over. Shopping now is about as appealing as having sex with a Republican. Ewww.

So today is our annual company ‘Pig Out’, which involves departments trying to out do each other with decorations and food. Lots of people went the Red White and Blue theme (our department included). I made blueberry muffins and they turned out damn tasty.

Tonight Liz will be in town, so we’ll be doing supper with her and probably playing some Clue. Tomorrow ‘the girls’ (Marie’s version of the guys’) will be in town and I think they’re going to see Lord of the Rings. I think I’ll be staying home to watch football or maybe just getting stuff ready for the party. It’s going to be so much freaking fun I can’t wait.

Random thoughts of the day:
Wow, I haven’t had this long of a journal entry in a while. I’m looking forward to holiday travel this year simply because of the lack of snow. It’s sunny and in the 30s here in Wisconsin 4 days before Christmas. This leads me to believe that Santa is giving us all the finger this year, and somehow, we deserve it.

This will probably be my last update until the 27th. Saturday is the party at night, Sunday we’re heading out to Wausau. Monday we’ll be leaving for Rice Lake, Tuesday we’ll be returning to Oshkosh and Wednesday Carrie B. is coming for a visit from Chicago, which will indeed prove to rock.

People need to learn the difference between an ‘inside’ voice and an ‘outside’ voice. In my humble of humblest opinions.

Eric and I are going out to eat for lunch to a new Mexican place. I’m looking forward to it, but not the refried beans.

I'd pick better colors for my journal. Ah well, deal with it!

I’m tired of having my nostrils crusted with snot. And I’m sure you’re tired of reading about it. I long for a day when my inner nostrils were lubricated and didn’t feel like burlap on the inside. I miss the time when I could breath out of my nose. I remember the times when I didn’t wince when I had to blow my nose. I think back with a smile at those days, so long ago, when I could sleep a full 8 hours without waking up to remember that, oh yes, I still feel like crap.

I don’t get sick all that often, but when I do, man do I ever take it to heart. I feel stupid and selfish feeling this way but I continue to do so.

Lunch was pretty good at the Mexican place. I ate around the refried beans as best I could and enjoyed my meal.

I think the crew is going to see Lord of the Rings tomorrow, yours truly included. Should be a good movie and I’ll have to stay home and watch football another time. Tonight will be the last of the baking/preparation for the party.

I hope a quiet night will help me feel better tomorrow. It feels like the cold is running it’s course so an early bed time should have me feeling like the host with the most tomorrow.

Still no word on [livejournal.com profile] mikecheck’s package, I’m hoping it comes in the mail today. Mwahahaha!

Last night, at Barnes and Noble, this kid had on a Green Day sweatshirt. The lettering of Green Day was in ‘metal’ format, similar to Iron Maiden or Quiet Riot. It looked pretty terrible.

I’m really just killing time before it’s time to go home. I’m looking forward to the weekend. After today, I don’t have to come to work until Thursday. This makes me smile.
