After work yesterday, I went to Aldi’s to grab some groceries. Marie and I bought these cloth bags to use for groceries instead of relying on the supermarket (and the cutting down of more trees) to provide them. Unfortunately, I didn’t check my car beforehand (they were at home) and could only buy what I could carry. Which lead me to a cool idea – what if that was the new consumer rule: You can only buy what you can carry. How much smarter of a consumer would you be if there were limits on what you could buy. Anyway, I could carry a gallon of milk, bunch of bananas, bag of celery and a box of cereal. Got it all for under $5, so I was feeling pretty good.

Got home, made a kick ass supper of side dishes (mac and cheese on one side of the plate, stuffing on the other) and waited for our photographer to come over to get our re-order of the wedding pictures (plugplug http://www15.brinkster.com/brianmurton/wedding.htm plugplug). He showed up and was at our place for about 10 minutes, as Marie had written out the order on a sheet of paper and he just needed to verify that he knew what we wanted.

After he left, Marie and I continued on our Rummy 5,000,000 tournament. After 5 hands, I retained my commanding 220 point lead. We’re damn near the 10,000 mark, so we’ve got a long way to go. It’s just so enjoyable to me to be able to be a homebody and enjoy it. I always have fun with Marie and we always find ways to laugh and be silly.

I watched most of the Monday night game and read my new copy of Adbusters. The issue before it was pretty odd (ok, so they are all odd), but this one is pretty great. Lots of information and not so much of the abstract. http://www.adbusters.org if you are interested.

I also had Marie proofread my second letter to Best Buy. Fear not, this will all appear on my website for your perusal. Forgot to bring the copy to work, so I’ll have to print it off tomorrow and mail it out. Not that it matters, since I was drove past the Oshkosh Post Office en route to work today and saw police cars blocking off every entrance. Found out when I got to work that they found a ‘suspicious’ package that they are investigating and shut down the post office. That was about an hour and a half ago, but I just heard that they are re-opening and everything is fine. Why do I feel that this is just the beginning?

I think this is my earliest LJ posting in a long time. I’ll try to write more later but I’ve got a few projects going on at work.

I mean, what a perfect example of condition-response. Today, I was driving to work, as I do every other weekday. This drive requires me to turn left at an intersection controlled by stop and go lights. It’s one of those cool intersections where they have the protected left hand turn signal (aka the little green arrow). As I approached the intersection, the green arrow was just turning from green to yellow, so I stopped. There were 4 cars in the oncoming traffic lane that I would eventually cross to get to work. After the yellow arrow disappeared, the light turned yellow (causing me to cry out “what the fuck?”) and then red, instead of remaining simply green without the arrow lit up. The oncoming traffic had a green light (as I checked by looking over my shoulder) so I had to basically sit in the intersection at a red light while waiting for oncoming traffic to clear the intersection (remember, they had a green light) and make my way onto work. Had my wits not been about me, I probably would have gotten into an accident. Guess you had to be there.

Today I was thinking if anyone that died due to 9/11 that had a live journal. I just got the chills.

Last night I was wondering when the last time there were two consecutive MNF games featuring teams from the same division facing off against each other (Giants/Eagles last night, Redskins/Cowboys last week, all from the NFC East). I crave useless statistics like you wouldn’t believe.

I have a dream to open up a bagel shop in Oshkosh. I have a feeling it would kick much ass and I would take compensation in the form of Cheddar Herb bagels instead of stock options or a company car. How awesome would that be? Anyone have some extra start-up capital lying around that they could send to me?

I forgot to wear a belt today. I feel out of place.

Our men’s room needs an air freshener. Whew.

I think apples are my favorite food. They always hit the spot for me and are so good with peanut butter on them. We have an apple slicer that gets used rather frequently. I also have an applesauce-butterscotch cake recipe that I’m going to make, probably sometime this weekend. Hell yeah.

It feels like it’s almost time for a haircut. We’ll see how Marie the barber does. I just think I look the best with well-trimmed hair and it’ll be so nice to be able to do it whenever. Although with the weather, maybe I should grow a second coat.
