You know your day will be interesting when the first person you talk to in the morning (and incidentally the person you wakes you up) is [livejournal.com profile] xjustinx. Yes, that little punk rocker from Philadelphia called me at 5:45am to ask me what sweatshirt to wear to school. He also told me I had a handsome Wisconsin accent. Marie was less than pleased to be awoken in such a manner. I think Justin just rubs her the wrong way. The few times they’ve talked on the phone he’s been his usual mischievous self. So I’ve told him to put the kibosh on calling too early.

Anyway, stumbled out of bed an hour later and got ready. I stopped by the post office before work (since it’s on my way) to send out the face to face EP I sold on eBay. For some retarded and illogical reason, this country celebrates Columbus Day and the PO was closed. Damn. Guess I’ll have to send it out tomorrow.

And here I am at work, whee. But oh yes, back to my weekend:

Friday
Friday I got home from work and made dinner. Frozen cheese pizza, it was pretty great. Marie had some work to do and I played some Fallout, then we watched Stepmom. Well, 95% of Stepmom, Marie had taped it off of the campus movie channel when we lived in the dorms and the ending got cut off. But she had seen it before, so she got to fill me in on the ending. I thought it was a pretty good movie. After that it was pretty much bedtime.

Saturday
Woke up pretty early and tackled Fallout for a while. Got a shower, had some lunch and then it was off to the library and camera shop. I showed Marie the camera I found before that I liked to get her take on it. Decided against a SLR camera and went with a 35mm. We got a Minolta Freedom Zoom (or some wack shit like that) with a free battery, roll of film, carrying case, remote control, and 12 rolls of 12-exposure film developed free. Sold! We then headed to the library. I got some great books, one on racism, one on socialism, one on atheism and two by Vonnegut. I really, really enjoy the library.

We cruised home after than and spent the rest of the day either on the computer or in front of the tv. I could actually feel my brain deteriorating. We saw most of Good Will Hunting on tv and then Mad TV and SNL.

Sunday
Woke up late on Sunday and made pancakes for Marie. My dad called about 2 minutes after I woke up (I swear, our apartment is under surveillance) to let me know we should come to Neenah at 1:30. Marie and I got ready and went grocery shopping. Came back, wolfed down some lunch in front of the football games and hit the road. Stopped to get her car washed en route, as it was thoroughly pelted with bird shite, and it looks good as new.

Went with Pops to Home Depot to get some lumber for his workshop in the basement. He’s building some shelving for storage, so we needed 3 sheets of 4x8 plywood, 16 2x4s and 6 1x2s. I felt pretty manly buying wood with my dad, I think it’s a guy thing. We loaded up the mini-van and hit up Culver’s on the way back home. I got a chocolate shake and he got the flavor of the day, custard with Butterfinger pieces. I mentioned how I felt that people would eat Butterfinger pieces on a dirty Kleenex, because Butterfinger pieces are so good. He hesitantly agreed.

We watched the first half of the Packer game together, hauled the lumber downstairs during half-time, and then watched the rest of the game. A heartbreaker, but glad the Packers were in it until the end. Jaguars also lost, but so did the Vikings and the Titans, so I wasn’t all that upset. My mom and Marie went shopping during football and got home with about 2 minutes to go in the game. We finished up and then went to a diner for supper. I was bad and had a pizza burger. It didn’t even taste that good to me and I think I’m really getting over my desire for meat. I think I’ll always want it, but anything worth fighting for should be difficult, right?

Anyway, we headed back home after that and watched the 49ers game and went through a book of baby names. No need to jump to conclusions, we’re just thinking ahead. The worst thing that happened to me this weekend was during the 49ers game. I was lying on the ground, propped up on my left elbow. My arm started to fall asleep, so I was in the process of sitting up and my left shoulder slid out of joint and stayed there for a good 3 or 4 seconds. Motherfucker, that hurt. I woke up this morning and I can barely raise it above shoulder level. Chalk it up to the moving of the lumber? Nothing was that heavy, and I’m not sure why things just slip out of joint. But lemme tell you, it’s no fun.

We went to sleep around 9:30 or so, but I couldn’t sleep. Around 10:30 I got up and watched the rest of the game and the new Comedy Central show Insomniac. It’s hosted by Dave Atell and it was pretty funny. He took a female escort bowling. Good stuff. I finally went back to bed and fell asleep around midnight or so.

Which brings us back to the beginning with [livejournal.com profile] xjustinx. The circle of life is complete.

More stuff later, I’ve got work to do, I think.

Meat: bad

Oh my aching gastrointestinal track. I should *not* have eaten that burger last night. I’ve been having wicked bad gas and general stomach pains. Funny how you avoid eating meat for a while and then when you do eat it, your body reminds you why you shouldn’t.

Tonight I’ll be playing two more games of Madden 2002 (weeks 13 and 14, I think) as we inch ever closer to the playoffs and post-season. Fun stuff. I have a feeling we’ll be getting in a good 4 or 5 seasons before 2003 comes out. I think I’m going to write a column on why everyone should play video games. My next one is due for http://www.misterridiculous.com in two weeks. Should be able to slap something together.

And if anyone out there is LJ land wants to take my survey, please head over to my website (http://www15.brinkster.com/brianmurton/survey.htm) and email it to me at brianmurton@yahoo.com. Special thanks to Jon, Sarah and Terry for taking the time. Ya’ll rock

I need to make up a Christmas list for friends and family, and again I’m hit with the realization that there isn’t much stuff I want. Fuck, it’s so difficult to come up with a good Christmas list and I know that I’m tough to shop for, because I have a lot of criteria on what I buy (made in certain countries, purchased from certain stores, etc). So I think I’ll just come up with a big list of books or CDs and hope that will suffice. Maybe a list of donations to charities? Suggestions would be helpful. How about a gift certificate to the chiropractor?

I’m excited to get back my first roll of film from the new camera, but we’ve only taken 3 pictures thus far. I’ll bring it along tonight to the guys’ and also for Poker Day, I’m sure I can find some good shots then. I’m going computer shopping with my dad (to help him pick out a new one) and will get a scanner from Milwaukee PC (which is what I should have done in the first place) on Saturday, so hopefully I can post the long awaited wedding pictures soon.

I think that’s about all that’s going on in my life right now. I’ve been thinking lately that I should go into radio. I think that would be a fun-as-hell job and would involve my desire to connect with other people and also stay abreast of issues. Might require a move to Madison to work for WPR, but let’s not put the cart before the horse. Watch out, Tom Clark, I’m coming for you...
