Does anyone have just cell phone service instead of also having a land line? Marie and I are contemplating making the switch. I'm hesitant because I don't like cell phones and wanted to get some feedback if any of you (or people you know) have done the deal.

Two years with no home phone. It's very nice. I don't get annoying calls or anything. I just can't see paying for a land line when my company pays for my cellphone and it has nationwide calling and rollover minutes and shit.

My mom is also without land lines. I definitely recommend it if you can keep your cost on calls and long distance better than you could with a landline.

We pretty much don't use our landline. It's only there because we have free dial-up through the fellow's work, and well... I like free. When we next move, we'll go without-- unless we can get a free connection again.

T-Mobile. I'm very happy with them. No problems at all.

I use Verizon. I'm not particularly happy with them, but I've never been particularly happy with any cell phone provider. I think they all bend you over and give it to you good when they get a chance.

When I didn't have a house phone I missed it. It's nice to never loose calls and know that it will always be there. But, the bills are getting to be crazy, long distance at home is crazy but free on my cell. But If I have to make a calls when it's not free I get zapped with high cell bills. I am a big fan of both. Home phone for local calls when ever, cell for emergency and long distance. If you do make the switch try and get free incoming minutes, I have nextel, It makes a huge difference in the bill.

That's my major reservation about doing this - getting inticed into a good plan and then bleeding rectally when it's time to renew.

I haven't had a land line since 2000, and I've been happy with the all-cellular route. I've moved several times, and this allows me to avoid the high hook-up costs for a land line.

I've had Sprint PCS as my provider, and I'm relatively happy with them. I would probably be more happy if I would more closely examine how many minutes I actually use and signed up for a different plan -- I probably pay too much just because I'm too lazy. With number portability, I ought to shop around.

Ha. It happens to the best of us. Most of my friends have gone all-cell, too. Everyone I know who has internet at home has gone cable with that, so there's very little need for a land line.

We got cable service when we moved (in June). A little pricy, but I'd have a hard time going back.

My mom switched a few years ago (I lived with her at the time). It was a little inconvenient at first (since she'd leave with her phone & I'd have no way to reach anyone), but, once I had one too, it worked out fine. I like it better now. (Well, now I live with my dad & we have a land line. But half the time I forget that, since neither of us ever uses it.)

I have been for all intents and purposes land line free for the past almost four years now and it's no skin off my nose.

I travel a lot and it's nice to be able to not worry about long distance. Plus, if you do use a lot of long distance, it turns out to be rediculously cheaper.

I use Sprint PCS and I haven't been too happy with them. Their website is always down (at least to pay your bills) and their customer service is pretty crap. However, they are also one of the only service providers that works *everywhere*. I mean everywhere.

Bottom line: If you travel, Sprint's a good bet. If you don't, go with T-mobile or Verizon. Everyone I know who's had either says they're good. Alltel (I dunno if you've got them near you) sucks ass.
