Saturday was an eventful day for me, starting with being at my parent's house by 8:30 to work on the bookcases with dad. We spent about an hour getting them stained after a quick bagel breakfast. All that's left is varnishing them and we should have them by this coming weekend. Mom made an entire batch of broccoli cheese soup for Marie and I and also sent along angel food cake, poppy seed bread and oranges. Despite graduating from college and earning my own living, I think my parents feel this need to help us out. Maybe because we live below our means and it makes us look poorer than we are? Or maybe it just comes from years of being depended on.
Anyway, headed to work after that to practice our 'Murder Mystery' for the holiday party that night. I'm glad I went since we covered a lot of info. Left shortly after noon and returned home. Had a quick lunch after shoveling the 3 inches of snow we got the night before and dinked around on the computer before getting ready to leave.
The bus picked us up at 3:45 in Appleton before making stops in Oshkosh and Fond du Lac and then arriving in Sheboygan. My role in the performance was the Godfather's accountant. Working in an accounting firm and *I* get picked as the accountant. I taped up my glasses and tried to be my nerdiest (a feat easily accomplished). We got to Sheboygan around 6:00 and started the performance at 7:00 with breaks for dinner and such. It was a fun time and I'm glad that everyone got into the skit. It was really funny and it got me out of my shell. I tend to keep to myself at work, so it must have been the Pepsi talking. We didn't get home until almost 1:00 a.m.
Sunday was filled with football watching and playing with the cats. Marie and I broke out the battleship and each won one game. I think the rematch may be tonight. I also talked with Tim and made plans to get together with them in early February. Marie and I will be down there for the "HR" company holiday party (with my co-workers from the Milwaukee office).
Today the tax interns start and I've got an hour 'presentation' to give glamourizing the paperwork involved with being hired. I should have gift certificates to give out to those who stay awake the whole time.
