Back to the normal life. Still feels surreal to be back at work and not have this big event hanging over our heads. I’ve been more malcontent lately and I don’t exactly know why. Post convention hangover or something, I guess.
I got 7 Jello Biafra spoken word CDs from my friend Tim at the wedding and have been listening to them at work and at home. Quite the information overload. I also got a Howard Zinn spoken word about Huxley (at least, that’s what the Sharpie markings on the disc says) that I’m betting is a great listen. Oh yeah, and I ordered two Henry Rollins spoken word CDs as well. Something about listening to lectures and thoughts and ideas that put my mind at ease, even if the subjects are disturbing and saddening.
Yesterday was my niece (Savannah)’s baptism, followed by a cookout at my parent’s house, which was nice. Marie and I could show pictures from our honeymoon/wedding and the ceremony was very nice. Plus, the food was pretty great and always good to hang out with the family.
Going meat free is harder than I thought and while I think I’ve taken steps forward, it’s just plain hard. Going out to eat is pretty much case in point, as I don’t want to have to get salads each time I want to go to a fast food joint. Of course, I really don’t want to patronize fast food places anymore on principal, they are very convenient. So time to hike up my expectations of myself and try harder, damnit.
I’m getting really excited for Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, which comes out on Friday. We’ll be hitting the later show to allow for Terry (who has a football game to coach) to join us. I wish that Jeb could make the pilgrimage to stinky Oshkosh to join us, but punk rock shows take a backseat to no one.
Tonight will be watching the Packer game at Terry’s place and giving my Little Brother a call to see if we can get together this week. Haven’t seen him since pre-Convention, so we should have some catching up to do. I think tomorrow I’m going to get some new pants. There was a candle accident that resulted in gel/wax being absorbed by my new blue dress pants that no amount of scraping with a butter knife seems to fix. I really liked those blue pants too, as much as someone can like pants anyway.
As much as I don’t want to be rich, winning the PowerBall is looking pretty damn appealing right about now. I’d be the happiest unemployed guy in the world.
I’m working on getting some honeymoon pictures up soon, I scanned most all of them in on Saturday, now I just have to take the time to upload them and put them on my website. Don’t hold your breath.
