Don't you dare get in my way
Mar. 21st, 2003 04:00 pmI'm filled to the brim with boyish glee because Carrie B is coming to visit Marie and me! We're also hoping that Andrea can join us, as we haven't seen her in a very long time either. I'm hoping we can grab some dinner and converse the evening away. I'm sure we'll have plenty to talk about.
The trip to the urologist yesterday was good, but not great. He basically told me the pain I experience after sex is relatively normal and that there is nothing medically wrong with my, well, plumbing. The prostate exam was okay. Not great, not bad, but okay. Like you wanted to know.
Tonight I'm going to search through some old tapes and see if I still have the football interviews I recorded a few years back when Terry, Brian, Eric and I were under the control of Madden 2000/01. They were pretty funny and it would be fun to look back and laugh.
I'm really, really fucking disappointed in Travis Morrison. And not just because I don't like his new song. Agreeing to disagree
For those of our troops fighting (?) in Iraq, I wish you no harm and want you back home, alive. I do hope you realize that when you signed up for the military, flying to far away places and killing people was part of the job description. You are basically a hired killer, a pawn controlled by a few rich men who can't get along with each other. The horrors you will experience and suffering you will cause will remain with you for the rest of your life. The guise of war does not excuse your actions anymore than 'just following orders' does. While your intentions may be good, your means of achievement are reprehensible.
It was very surreal to eat my peanut butter and jelly sandwich as I saw American bombs tear apart Baghdad. At least when it's over, there won't be any more terrorist threats ever and we can get back to a buck twenty-five a gallon gas and more reality television. I already spent my shock and awe on the Bush administration and am left with feelings of sadness and betrayal. I know that there are millions of people dedicated to making things better and I stand in solidarity with them, to find better ways to resolve differences and to realize that we are all connected through our actions. Change is slow, but the prospects are invigorating.

Date: 2003-03-21 02:14 pm (UTC)Thank you.
While, for the benefit of any Ashcroft spies watching, I will confirm that I "support our troops," I am getting tired of the idea that I should feel terribly sorry for their spouses and children on the basis of career choices made on a completely voluntary basis. Particularly when, from some of the snippets of TV I've seen, many seem pretty eager to fly to faraway places and kill people.
