Back at my old job, talking with Betty about performance reviews, another employee gave me me a package addressed to “Boner”. Return address was from Florida, so I thought it was from [livejournal.com profile] vegasdemilo, which isn’t all that close to New York. Turned out to be 15 or 20 cds (not in cases) of Christmas music, from Carrie B. They were burned CDs with drawings of Santa dancing on them with titles like “Christmas Music” and “Christmas”. There were other things in the envelope but I didn’t look at them.

Saturday was the main event of the weekend. Marie had a stamping outing in Appleton and I headed to my parent’s house for use of the cable modem. I found a few rare AK3 songs, the entire White Album by Lewis Black, Open Office and a slew of old DOS games. Pretty fun. I beat my dad at two games of cribbage, helped him shovel the driveway and generally had a nice visit with the folks. Marie got dropped off around 5:30 and we proceeded to watch most of Ice Age before it was time to leave.

We headed to a Mexican restaurant I can’t for the life of my spell in Neenah and met up with Terry and Danielle. We had a lovely meal (with the exception of Marie’s salad) and conversation. Danielle has heard back from two of the four grad schools she’s considering (Michigan and Colorado). We’re pulling for Michigan due to proximity, but will be anxious to visit them wherever they end up. I just hope they remember to come back.

We then went to the jazz club in Appleton and had a nice time. It’s always a little loud there for conversation, but we were sitting pretty close to the stage. Brian showed up around 8:30. Amanda wasn’t able to make it out with us as a friend showed up unexpectedly from Chicago for her. We got the craving for dessert and tried a place a few blocks away, but they had just stopped serving dessert. We got to our vehicles and made it out to Perkins instead, but it was heavily populated with high schoolers. No thanks. We decided to call it a night instead.

Sunday I had my first experience eating fresh pineapple. It was a bit of work getting it liberated from the shell(?), but well worth it. Hope to add some to the next mango smoothie we make. I’ve also become attached to granola.

Today has been interesting. Marie forgot to grab her purse from the woman who gave her a ride to the stamping outing and thus, didn’t have car keys to get to work today. Neither of us realized it until I got to work, so I made a quick stop home to give her my spare. I also got a mailer that Jesus Christ: Superstar will be performed at the new Performing Arts Center in July. But here’s the kicker – Jesus will be played by none other than…Sebastian Bach (yes, that Sebastian Bach). I consider this one of the signs of the apocalypse.

Tonight Brian and I will be playing the drums together for the first time in a long time. On deck is the Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers box set. Will try to get some ironing done too.
