And I count to one hundred and ten
The weekend was a good one indeed. Marie was occupied with the bowling alley for quite some time on Friday night, so I made her a mix CD and watched some television. Saturday I ran some errands and did a good deed at the same time. Went to JC Penney’s to get some new shirts, arriving in the parking lot at 8:50. Figuring they didn’t open until 9:00, I sat with the engine off and waited. A few other cars were waiting with me, so by 8:58 I had 3 companions in the parking lot. I got out and went to the door to be greeted by a sign informing me they didn’t open until 10:00. I went to the other vehicles individually to inform the middle-aged woman seated in the driver’s seat of each one that they didn’t open until 10:00. I might have looked a little scary walking up to a strange vehicle and motioning for them to roll down their windows, but they each thanked me before driving away.
I followed suit and headed to Target to get band-aids, CD cases (multicolored, baby) and some blank VHS tapes. I also hit up the grocery store to stock up the kitchen. Returned home and got to spend a little time with Marie before she had to leave again. Jon arrived shortly after 12:00 with Terry showing up a few minutes later. We chewed the rag for a bit before heading over to the alley. My former co-worker Tony was on our team and already there when we arrived. We got checked in and proceeded to get our bowl on. There were 10-15 former co-workers of mine bowling at the same time, so I got to talk with a few of them in between turns. While my bowling skills took the day off, I still managed a blistering 115 for a top score out of the two games we played. We all won free pizza coupons and with all of my donations I received three $10 certificates to China King. Hell yes.
We hit up the video store and rented Minority Report, about the only movie that one of us hadn’t seen. Despite being two and a half hours long, it was pretty good. A few plot holes but well done. We got our Applebee’s on afterwards and had a good talk about relationships. Jon and Jill are relatively new to each other, Terry will be married in June and I’ve been hitched for a year and a half. I was happy to not have to go through the dating scene and meet Marie as friends. I sometimes wonder what it would have been like to date other people. I can’t see myself with anyone but Marie, but I still think about it sometimes. Maybe I should be a marriage counselor. I don’t think relationships are necessarily easy, but I think the guidelines to a happy one are pretty straightforward.
Anyway, we headed back to my place after dinner and cribbaged for four and a half hours. We played nickel per point and I ended up down 35 cents when all was said and done. Terry dropped $6 something and Jon was down a dollar sixty-five. This is highly amusing since I didn’t win a single game until after 11:00. Always bet on Brian.
The guys headed out around 12:30 and I went to bed. Sunday we woke up and headed to Waukesha for a baptism. Despite getting a late start, having to go get a gift that morning and needing to turn around and get something after we were already on the highway, we made it in time. Go Speed Racer, Go.
We had a nice time visiting with family members and got the usual questions of ‘did you find a house yet? Time to have kids yet?, etc’. It’s gotten better and it beats being asked “How’s school going” at every get together. But just barely.
We got home around 5:00 and were both in bed by 7:30. I was asleep by 8:00 and despite 10 hours of sleep am still tired. That’s lame.
But what isn’t lame is what I found out about the cell plan at work, the $8 one. Apparently, I can call anywhere in the US for nine cents per minute, not just within my calling area. Is that how normal cell phones work? I thought it was a mutual agreement (I can only call those in my calling area and not get charged 28957925735 cents per minute) but I’m learning otherwise. Anyway, the guy is coming tomorrow so I should be hooked up then.
This week will be a busy one. Tonight Marie and I are getting trained for our volunteer work at the Humane Society, tomorrow night I’m going out to eat with Betty, Wednesday is cribbage, Thursday is a CPA party at work and Friday Marie and I are going to see the Vagina Monologues on campus. Whew!

about your cell phone
I guess my advice is, try it for a few months and keep track of how many minutes you use it. Then you'll know if another plan would be better for you based on your usage.
Things like text-messaging are not very useful, don't pay for them.
Games, on the other hand, are a necessity.
Re: about your cell phone
No games or text-messaging, but I do get free voicemail, which I think is pretty swanky.
I'll post the number once I figure out how to use the damn thing.
Thanks for the thoughts, I really appreciate it!!
