The main problem I have with the United States is the assumption that it (we?) are/is in charge. The hypocrisy and lies are more than a man can bear. How fucking awesome would it be to set the example and *not* carpet bomb countries we don’t agree with and instead simply refuse to sell them weapons in the first place. How does killing an enemy do anything but create future enemies? Let’s stop training future terrorists, stop fueling hatred in other countries and start living a sustainable lifestyle. If Dubya is in charge of defining ‘good’, then I’m one evil mofo.

Tuesday night was the last straw and our Big Brother match will be coming to an end. Looking back, Marie and I did everything on our end correctly but just weren’t supported by the agency, the Little Brother or his mom. On the bright side, I’m going to take the time that I would usually spend with LB and instead seek a volunteer opportunity with the Humane Society. It will fulfill my desire to do good things as well as my need to play with dogs on a regular basis.

Kudos go out to Marie for keeping me on track with the Year of Brian initiatives. At times I get frustrated and misinterpret her intentions as nagging, but she only wants what is best for me and to help better myself. It’s all good.

My first work initiative has been approved, the office will rejoice in learning they get nameplates. Baby steps.

I rejoice in the fact that Futurama and Home Movies (reruns) are played back-to-back 4 nights per week on the Cartoon Network. This allows me to tape them both and watch them the next day over dinner with Marie. It’s the little things; it always will be.

For those of you who haven’t heard, LiveJournal instituted a change restricting the number of posts users can make in a 24-hour period. 3 for free users, 10 for paid and 20 for permanent. The backlash was so strong that it was retracted (temporarily) and will be reinstituted in the near future. Free users and paid users alike complained that this would bring down LJ, people should be able to post as much as they want, etc.

In a way, I think the negative responses sum up the mindset of America quite nicely. A one-year membership to LJ is $25. A two-month membership is $5. Free memberships for the most part have the same rights as paid members, yet in fewer quantities (for example, number of icons allowed). The point of LJ is to, quite frankly, sustain itself. It needs money to do so. While I started out as a free user, I wanted to show my support for LJ and later became a paid member. Other people show support by helping to add on features, answer questions, moderate communities, etc.

I do agree that there should have been some advanced notice to the change, but I think the change is a wise one. I’ve never had anything but good experiences with LJ and appreciate all of the work that goes into it to contain my pithy little thoughts. It just irks me that people suddenly feel like they’ve been completely ripped off when they’ve been taking advantage of something free in the first place. We’re America – we want things fast, free and fun, all the time. We’re *entitled* to everything simply because we want it. I understand there are some people who literally cannot afford to pay for memberships. Fine, but then they need to realize they need to play by the rules set for them until they pay for it.

Anyway, last night was nice, but a little wonky. Terry came over for cribbage and I spent a good hour on the phone between Carrie B. and my dad. I felt bad to keep Terry waiting, but it did give me a chance to catch up with Carrie and for Marie and Terry to talk as well. I managed a 3-1 advantage and lead a close new tournament 13-12.

Tonight is groceries and perhaps a make-out session. Meow!

Best. Spoof. Ever.

I don't post very frequently to LJ, so, the restrictions don't bother me.

I feel that people are entitled to feel objections. You are right, however: LJ is offering this great free service. I have a paid account, because I wanted to show my support. However, I try not to get all uppity because I want more for something that I (at one time) didn't pay anything to obtain. Some people are like that, though. Nothing is ever enough. So what if there aren't the funds to support unlimited posts? So-and-so wants it, so you should give it to them!
