Let’s recap, shall we?

The Henry Rollins performance was good, but not great. The evening, however, was awesome. Terry picked Marie and me up around 4:30 and we made excellent time, arriving in Milwaukee shortly before 6. We met up with Tim and Andrea and made our way to the Noodles and Company. Jon and Jill arrived shortly there after and we met Jill and ordered our food. I got this amazing peanut sauced entrée that was spicy and flavorful. Everyone liked their meal and we were soon off to see Hank.

It was an open seating gig, so the earlier we got there, the better. The entrance line split into two towards the doors. Luckily, Jon and Jill were in the swiftly moving line and snagged us 6 seats together (in the last row of the place). Still, we were only about 75 feet from the stage and lots of people had to stand through the whole show. He came on shortly after 8 and went on for a solid two and a half hours. Great material and a great stage presence, as always. The drawbacks were it was cold inside and they allowed smoking. The Rave is more set for concerts than engagements such as this and next time I see Hank, I want to do so in Madison instead, where Marie and I first saw him.

The job is improving, even after making a serious botch last week. I sent out semi-confidential information via email to less than 10 people and caught some hell from people I haven’t even met yet. It was only the social security numbers of their dependants, but still a no-no on my part. I’m getting more comfortable with being here and just need to work on being more introverted. I could get away with putting my head down and working at my last job, but with no ‘real’ department on site, I need to put forth the effort. In work and life in general.

The interview project is alive and kicking, in that I hope to interview Danielle this weekend. I’ve made up my mind that I need to provide the initiative to get this moving. And if that means driving to Milwaukee (or Chicago) to do so, so be it.

The Year of Brian is proceeding nicely as we’re already into month #2. On the advice of Marie, I’m coming up with a calendar of sorts to track all the things I want to do. If I don’t write it down and check up on it, it won’t get done. So, yeah.

Along with that, I bought two Tae Bo tapes a few weeks ago. They are advanced and I can only get through about 20 minutes before collapsing, but it’s a start. The Y is a great resource, but having tapes to do at home erases that it’s too cold/it’s a long drive/it’ll be busy source of excuses I used all too frequently.

My plant at work must have suffered some ill effects in transit from the apartment to my office, as it is rapidly dying. On Friday the leaves were doing pretty okay (there are three different types of plants in this cool planter Marie got for me for Valentine’s day) but today one whole section died, one is on life support and the last one is headed downhill. Not having sunlight in here might be part of the problem, but I think being in single digit temperatures for 15 minutes was the culprit.

I’m continuing on my endeavors to scan all of our photos and someday will put them all on-line for your enjoyment. But not for a long time. The quality is a little less than what I wanted, but overall I’m happy.

Marie and I blew the dust off the cards and continued our Rummy 5,000,000 tournament this weekend. I still lead by 1,000 points, but I can feel her gaining on me. She wants to bet a kiss but I want to bet a house.

I will also be making The Life of Brian, Volume Three and will send a copy to anyone who wants it. I’m also thinking of making up extra copies and leaving them in public places for people to find (at the library, on the table along with the tip at a restaurant, etc) with an email address that people can write to me about what they thought of it, who their favorite bands are, etc. Is this a creative, cool idea or a creepy, crappy idea?

::wave:: I want copies of The Life of Brian, Vol.s 1-3!!!

I also want my internals to stop the revolt against me. I've never done anything to them.

I also wish I could have seen HR live. Dammit, I also wish I took back the books I gave to Jim while we were together. Those were damn good books. Oh well, no I don't, they were gifts. Even though he doesn't deserve them anymore, he did when I bought them. Oh well. Enough Jim talk.

So what were some covered topics?

Totally. Email me your address and I'll send within a few weeks.

Being sick is no fun!

He talked about war, women/men, Ozzy, the Tonight Show, a girl he once loved who died, Shrub, the KKK, and a lot more stuff I can't remember off hand.

sweet!
Henry's always entertaining. Did I tell you how my friends went to see him a few years ago and caught him outside after one of his SWs? Yeah, my dumb friend Chris challenged him to an arm wrestle. Pretty damn ridiculous. They said Henry was a bit of a jerk, but considering how one of my friend was acting, I don't blame him.

I can't imagine all the crap that Hank puts up with. He is selling two new double CDs and it actually sounds like he's going soft. Which I think is a good thing, there can be *too much* intensity.
