Sloth

That about sums up the remainder of the week/weekend. Sloth. I did mostly nothing, but here goes for a recap.

Friday
So, let’s see. Friday was rather basic. Went to the Festival of Trees to see the tree that Marie decorated for Big Brothers/Big Sisters. Had a fun time and took some pictures for Marie’s mom. Stopped at Blockbuster and rented America’s Sweethearts and Memento.

Marie gave me a haircut too, it looks pretty rad. She went shorter in the back this time, which is good.

Talked to Terry and made plans to get together with him and Danielle on Saturday night. Since Danielle already saw America’s Sweethearts, we decided to watch that one. It was a good movie, but a little slow at times. Try as I may, I am still lukewarm to John Cusiak. Oh well.

Did the usual rountine: computer, reading, tv.

Saturday
More of the same on Saturday. It was a long day. I vegged out in front of the TV for the first time in a long time. Helped Marie clean up the apartment since Terry and Danielle were coming over (well, and since it was time for a cleaning).

Also made plans to get together with my parents on Sunday to help them decorate for X-mas.

Terry and Danielle arrived around 7:30 and we made our way to Robbins restaurant for dinner. It was a little on the pricey side, but the food was quite good. We went back to our place and chatted until about 11:30 or so. Always nice to get together with T & D and chew the rag, as my grandfather likes to say. We joked about how we are really getting ‘old’ and how late nights rarely extend past midnight (or even 11:00). Feels fine to me, I love to sleep.

Sunday
Woke up and got ready on Sunday and made our way out the door around 12:30. Dropped off the movies and made our way to Appleton. Had to stop at Home Depot and Media Play for some gifts. Went to the Media Play “Customer Service” counter and asked about getting a gift card. Was told that we had to go wait in line at a register. Understand that there were TWO ‘managers’ behind the CS counter and a stack of gift cards right by their register. I almost asked for a job application, because I can stand around and talk with my co-workers and get paid for it just as easily as they could, but I bit my tongue and got in line like a good little consumer.

Also made our way to Kohl’s to get some more gifts and do a little shopping. I got a new pair of khaki pants and some winter gloves. As we were checking out, something weird happened. The woman cashier kept mentioning something about Buddy Lee to her co-workers as she rang up my pants. Another cashier came over to me after looking around by a few of the registers and said in a low, almost whisper “If you really want Buddy Lee, go to Zone A”, as if I had some inkling of what the hell she was talking about. Yet another cashier scampered off to get these ‘Buddy Lee’ whatevers and by the time my transaction was complete, she returned and handed me a white box.

After that, we went to my parent’s house and spent the remainder of the afternoon working on Christmas decorations. My parents got two trees (one for the upstairs and one for the living room) that were in need of lights and decorating, along with getting them into their tree stands. It was pretty fun helping out and they appreciate the help. They ordered pizza for dinner and we were soon on our way back home. Got back around 7:30 or so.

Spent the rest of the night watching some of the Bears/Vikings game, busting a few moves on the Gazelle and reading more of David Sedaris’ “Holidays on Ice” which I’m almost done with.

So here we are. Felt tired this morning with having to get up so early and have no motivation to work. This is a reoccurring problem. Hope to hear from Society this week about an in person interview, but we’ll see how that pans out. I have a dentist appointment this afternoon, which I’m not looking forward to. I’m one of those people who scolds myself to no end after a checkup and vow that “This time, I really AM going to floss everyday” and I do so for about a week and then occasionally until the next cleaning in which I floss religiously two weeks beforehand to somehow hide my anti-dentifrice ways. It never works. But I didn’t have any cavities last time, so wish me luck.

Tonight will be cribbage and Madden with the guys, as per usual. Probably get some groceries too. You know, no big whoop.

Oh, and the white box turned out to be a 'bobbing head' Buddy Lee figurine. It's about 10 inches tall and scary as hell. I don't know whether to love it or destroy it. Perhaps it will look nice on my rear dashboard. Not bloody likely.

Random thoughts of the long weekend:
I’ve got no excuse to be bored. But I was.

TV would have you believe that homeless people only exist during the holidays.

Attention Green Bay Packers: One more heart attack, ok?

I got Marie’s birthday presents all ready to go, I’m so sneaky!
