Oh so desirable

Well, maybe. But first things first. Last night, I headed home quickly after a good meeting with my supervisor about a project I’m working on. Anyways, got home, changed, inhaled some supper and was off to campus to meet Marie. She was on campus for a function from 4-6, so it made more sense to meet there and take my car to my brother’s house. Anyway, it felt weird to be on campus after graduating almost a year ago. I felt really old. But, since I’m such a people watcher, it was enjoyable to me to see students working together in our student union, sweating over upcoming exams and projects. Enjoyable because I am no exempt from such stress. Well, that kind of stress anyway.

Marie met me a few minutes after I got there, and then we were off. My brother and his family live in Appleton, about a 30 minute drive from where we live. So during the ride, I talked with Marie about talking with the recruiter and the interview that was to take place on Friday (that’s today, if you lost track). Got pretty psyched up about it because, as [livejournal.com profile] jonnyv said, I’m in a good place right now and am only exploring if there is a better fit for me somewhere else.

Got to their house around 7 or so and got the grand tour. I really like the way it’s laid out and they have a nice big yard. Plus, they are tucked away in a more residential area, which is nice. I got to hold Savannah for about 25 seconds before she started bawling. She was a little cranky and I think she was tired. But when it was time to change her and get her into her PJs, she was all excited and flopping around. Such a cutie. Glad that we remembered our camera!

We left around 8:00 and headed back to campus, so Marie could pick up her car. I dropped her off and made a stop at Family Video, since I’m a bachelor this weekend. I picked up Wonder Boys and Fight Club, two movies I have yet to see but have heard pretty good things about. So I’ll probably watch both of them on Saturday, although I heard that I should see Fight Club more than once if I get the chance. So we’ll see. Spent the rest of the night reading Fast Food Nation (my 2nd time around, I’m enjoying it much more this time) and headed to bed.

Anyway, to get to more recent news, I had my phone interview at 11:00 today and I think it went really, really well. They didn’t mention salary and I didn’t either, but I hate to cruise all the way to FdL if they aren’t offering what I want. They mentioned using the telephone screen as a way to weed out some more candidates and that they would be doing in-person interviews the last week of November (after Thanksgiving) and the first week of December. So, I’m anticipating a call back, but we’ll see. The job interests me because I think I’ll get a more well-rounded HR experience (the director mentioned this position being involved in a lot of aspects of HR) and that would prepare me for a career in HR (if that’s indeed what I want). Anyway, I was comfortable talking to them and if anything, I probably talked too much. That’s what happens when I get nervous; I tend to blather on a bit.

So, the agenda for the weekend is as follows:
Friday – Grab some dinner after work, stop by the library (and maybe the Exclusive Co.) and then over to the guys’ for Madden/cribbage
Saturday – Shopping for Marie, movie time and probably rocking out to quality tunes
Sunday – Church with the family, possibly more shopping for Marie and watching the Packers eat the Falcons as a symbol of their dominance.

I guess that’s about all for now.
