This is my life and it’s gonna be good.
Upon returning home from a mostly uneventful workday, I made supper for Marie and I and settled into an old episode of the Simpsons. Oh that Mr. Burns, will he ever learn? Headed over to the Exclusive Company to grab some CDs. See, I spent part of my time at work making up a Christmas list and got the urge to cross some items off right away. Plus, Marie owes me some money and has been paying me back in cash, so I feel the need to lighten my wallet too. So it’s sort of her fault ;)
Anyway, I got the newest “The Dismemberment Plan” disc, entitled “Change”. Also picked up “Atom and His Package”’s “Making Love”. AAHP is a lot like Weird Al, but way funnier. He writes really topical and funny songs and generally rocks my socks off. I’ve only heard two of his songs prior to the purchase. Same for TDP, I like listening to a few songs of a band and then ‘gambling’ with getting one of their CDs. Most of the time, it pays off (Randy, face to face, Saves The Day, Pulley) and sometimes, it doesn’t (Dinosaur Jr., No Use For A Name). Ah well, nothing ventured, nothing gained, right? Anyway, I am digging TDP despite the fact that the lead singer reminds me of Dave Matthews.
Made my way onto the guys’ and played against the Bucs. Suffice it to say, the Seahawks are now 2-8. But, Terry simulated Noah’s game, so I could play my next week’s game against the Vikings. Suffice it to say, the Seahawks are now 3-8. That’s right, I *can* beat the computer. I benched Hassleback and went with Travis Brown, some QB who I’ve never heard of and is my 3rd stringer, but is playing like a superstar. Not really accurate, but good with the deep ball. I hope to bring in a cagey veteran in the off season, but I’ll make due with Brown for now.
Played two games of cribbage with Terry and won them both, I think the score is 12 to 17 or something, so I’m still behind but working on it. I was this close to skunking him, but it wasn’t meant to be. Had a wicked-bad headache last night during my game and all the way until I fell asleep, which meant a lot of tossing and turning, which I’m not used to. I’ve been sleeping really well (what, like I’m really good at it or something?) lately, just had an off night.
Today at work was pretty cool because a co-worker and I (she is our Administrative Assistant in our department) got together with the VP of HR and basically said that we’re irked that we’re not included in more meetings and need to have better communication. It was a very productive meeting and I think that some positive changes will come out of it. Sounds like we’re not going to be doing as much hiring next year, and focus more on employee communication, small group meetings and training, all things that I want to get more involved in. So maybe I won’t be jumping ship just yet. I realize that saying things and actually doing them are two different things, but I’m remaining optimistic.
I also signed the contract for our X-mas party, which I’m getting really excited about. I think it’s going to be a lot of fun, and will bring a lot of friends together. Have to start thinking about decorations and what everyone is going to be bringing and such. I hope that I hear back from a few more people, but maybe I’ll need to make some direct phone calls to see if people either didn’t get the message or what the deal is. I’m such an electronic communicator, sometimes I forget the wonderful sound of a friend’s voice or the happiness that comes with personal contact.
Random thoughts of the day
If two of the four people in my department are sick, what are the odds I’ll get it too?
I’m in a really good mood today and I think I like it.
I have the bestest wife in the entire world. It’s a fact.
I’ve had about all the pimples that I want, thank you very much.
