Happy Halloween

Last night after work, headed home and decided to try a new recipe. Well, not really a recipe but we made veggie fajitas. It called for lime and lemon juice, which was a little strong for my taste, but everything else was great. We used celery, carrots, zucchini, red onion and garlic (just a ‘little’ bit of garlic this time). Next time we’d add broccoli and corn. Good stuff!

After dinner, Marie got a ‘hankering’ for some ice cream, so we busted it over to Culvers (in the rain!) and I got a pumpkin shake. Tasted exactly like pumpkin pie (albeit in liquid form). It. Was. Awesome. Marie got a scoop of vanilla. We also had to stop at Shopko to get a sympathy card, Marie’s great-aunt passed away on Monday. She was 94, but neither of us knew her very well.

Once we got home, I spent a little time sorting through some old files on the computer (mostly love notes I wrote to Marie or old journal entries), which was a nice trip down memory lane. Cleaned off some computer disks and checked my email. My latest Utne Reader came in the mail, so I spent the rest of the night browsing through that. Went to bed around 9:30, which was tremendous. Sleep was wonderful and warm.

Which brings us to now. A quiet evening and it was just what I needed. I think tonight I’m going to start on the “Fuck Best Buy” section for my website, as I should be getting their 2nd response letter soon. Haven’t done much with the site lately, so it would be nice to spruce it up a bit, I just hate tying up the phone line for so long. Also, I heard back from the greeting card website (the one I was possibly going to be their webmaster for) and they’ve decided to keep it with someone actually in Hawaii (where they are located) instead of cross-country. So frick, I think it would have been a great opportunity to get some experience and make some extra cash, but not meant to be I guess.

My new column is up on MisterRidiculous. It’s on filtering and how we receive information (at least, my skewed take on it). I think it’s pretty good, so check it out: http://misterridiculous.com/columns/brianmurton.html

Today is a casual day at work, and departments are going pretty all out in decorating their areas. I get to go around with the digital camera and take some pictures for our Intranet site. Pretty much writing today off as a joke.

Random thoughts for the morning:
Note to self – In the future, do not schedule a dentist appointment 3 weeks after Halloween.

The last time I went trick or treating, I was 14 or 15 and didn’t even dress up. I still got candy from everywhere I went. Suckers!

If someone says ‘Trick or Treat’, what happens if you respond with ‘trick’? Are we sending out our kids prepared to play tricks on homeowners in case they are stiff with the candy?

My new shoes need shorter laces. They are incredibly bright white.
