Bluntman and Chronic

Curses, the weather is here. Check that, the shitty weather is here. 60 mph winds and slight flurries that aren’t sticking around but still make the impending presence of weather all that much more impending. Blah.

Last night Marie and I went out for supper with my parents (their treat). We headed to Applebee’s. What shitty service! They screwed up Marie’s order twice (she ordered a veggie burger with cheese and got a turkey burger w/o cheese) and my order (no extra honey mustard for me!) Ah well, we survived, somehow. The oddest part of the evening was when the waitress was taking our order. She was getting Marie’s order and I was looking at the menu when I felt something brush on shoulder. I thought it was the waitress leaning over to get Marie’s menu, but I turned and saw (ready for this [livejournal.com profile] jonnyv?) Donna. Donna is a friend from high school that I lost track of shortly after HS graduation. We starred in the infamous “History Video” together for 10th grade World History (along with Eric) and generally really clicked with each other. She had sort of a rough home life but was an excellent student. She drove me to the Exclusive Company to get Green Day’s Insomniac the day it came out. We went back to her house and I listened to it during lunch (how I loved to cut out of school). We would chat on the phone for hours on end, it was pretty cool. Anyway, she was working at Applebee’s and moving to Milwaukee in a few days to become the manager of one of the stores down there. It was so odd to see her again after so long, we had brief email correspondence during freshman year (she went to school in Madison), but nothing sustained. In thinking about it now, there are so many people from high school that I’d love to get together for one night, go out to eat and just talk the night away about what has happened since 12th grade. But it would almost be too weird to just call people up out of the blue, you know?

Anyway, after that we headed back home (with our winter coats, which we had stored at my parent’s house). Marie pretty much went to bed and I did some reading of my new issue of Mother Jones.

We had new employee orientation today, which was fine. A few employees that said they were going to show up ended up not showing up, which sort of irks me, but hell, it means more donuts for me. How can that be bad?

Got back in time for lunch and then went back to work. As it stands, it’s after 2pm and I’ve done about 20 minutes of ‘work’ today. Not too shabby. Tonight my awesome friend Julie is coming down from Appleton to get some chow and watch our wedding video, since she couldn’t make it to the wedding. Hope that she’ll still want to come, with the weather being so hostile, but I think she will.

Random thoughts of the day:
Last night I became a paid member of LJ. So go me.

I slept really well last night, and no dreams of going to bed with Eric. Praise the Lord.

I have a bit of a headache today. I think it was donut #2 that did me in. Argh.

I feel boring today, so I guess that’s all for now.
